Primary Mlignant Lymphoma of the Gastrointestinal Tract

Abstract
|
|
|
Ten patients with primary malignant lymphoma of the gastrointestinal tract have been operated on at the Severance Hospital during 7 year-period from July, 1958. to June, 1965. Of these, 3 involved the stomach, 4 the small bowel and 3 the large bowel. They were all reticulum cell sarcoma except 2 cases of lymphocytic lymphosarcoma of the stomach.
The symptoms and signs of malignant lymphoma were similar to those of carcinoma and differential diagnosis could be made only by histopathological study after exploration.
Curative sugery was performed in 3 cases, palliative resection in 5 cases and by-pass procedure in 2 cases. Postoperative irradiation therapy was peformed in 6 cases; 4 with roentgen and 2 with Co^(60).
Among 10 cases, only 6 cases could be able to do follow-up studies, and of these, 4 cases are surviving 2. 6, 11 months and 1 year respectively after operation, and 2 cases died of recurrent tumor 1 and 6 months after surgery respectively.
